WHAT PARKERS SAY ABOUT THE TOYOTA COROLLASUMMARYThe latest Corolla was an attempt to prove Toyota was the equal of Volkswagen in terms of build quality helped by a European look to car. PERFORMANCE Mainstream engines are the peppy and frugal 1.4 and 1.6-litre petrol engines. 2.0 D-4D sounds a little rougher than rival diesel engines but performs well enough, and older 90bhp replaced by a 1.4-litre version which is quieter than the 2.0-litre and more economical. HANDLING Safe and predictable handling with accurate steering and quite a slick gearchange. Suspension copes well with twisty roads while soaking up bumps and potholes on A and B-roads. It cruises happily on the motorway. Fun to drive when you're in the mood, hassle-free when you're not. COMFORT Plenty of room for four adults. Seats are comfy for long journeys with enough adjustment on most models. Rear passengers have plenty of leg and headroom. PRACTICALITY The boot is roomy and a good size for its class, certainly adequately proportioned to carry the weekly bags of shopping. The boot is easy to load and there are plenty of cubbies dotted around the cabin for glasses, CDs and maps etc. Corolla has a tight five-metre turning circle and speed sensitive power steering, so supermarket parking is made easier. BEHIND THE WHEEL Comfortable to drive, thanks to a well-thought-out driving position, comfortably sited pedals and controls that are well placed and easy to use. Comfy for two to three hours at a time (driver's armrest is upholstered in an especially soft material). SAFETY Side airbags, ABS, five three-point rear seat belts and ISOFIX child seat anchor points are all standard. Four-star Euro NCAP rating. No alarm as standard but immobiliser, remote central double locking, security etching, unique-fit stereo, and marked parts should discourage thieves. RELIABILITY Too early to say, but Toyota's reputation is built on longevity - we've certainly heard of no serious problems from owners about this model. Interior trim is high quality and much classier than previous generations. ABOUT FG05 OUEThis particular TOYOTA is a COROLLA 2.0 D4D T3 [114BHP] DIESEL HATCHBACK with SAT NAV. It is a one owner, 05 Plate car first registered on 1st April 2005 making it just over three years old. It has covered 79,850 miles from new and comes with a FULL TOYOTA SERVICE HISTORY (Last Service @ 78,045 Miles) and MOT to 8th May 2009.
The D4D Engine in this Corolla is the later version of the 2.0 litre diesel fitted to the Corollas which means it produces more power (114BHP) than the earlier versions and is also Chain rather than Belt driven which means no expensive cambelt changes to worry about. The standard equipment on this Corolla T3 is excellent and includes air conditioning, radio/cd player with steering mounted controls, front electric windows, electric mirrors, 60/40 split fold rear seats, power steering, central locking, alloy wheels, front fog lights, front centre armrest and of course SATELLITE NAVIGATION which includes Voice and Map Guidance. The 2.0 D4D diesel engine produces excellent torque (280NM) which means this car will progress very swiftly if required. Indeed 0-60mph can be dealt with in just 10.3 seconds and a top speed of 116mph is possible. Being diesel means of course great fuel economy and the official average mpg figure for this Corolla is 49mpg. A further benefit of the Diesel engine is that with emissions of 151g/km this Corolla costs just £145 a year to tax which is great in a world of ever increasing fuel and taxation costs.
